1. Who we are

These terms are between you and Know Before Signing (“we”, “us”, “our”), an independent research and pilot initiative operated by Mohammed Abdul Jabbar.

2. What the service is

You submit up to three written quotes for the same domestic bathroom project in England. We produce a written summary comparing what each quote states, what it omits or leaves unstated, and questions you may consider asking each contractor. Each review combines structured checklists and AI-assisted text analysis with human oversight and validation.

3. What the service is not

• Not professional survey or trade advice: the review is not a building survey, structural inspection, architectural sign-off, or legal, financial or tax advice.
• No contractor endorsements: we do not recommend, endorse, vet or rate any individual contractor, trade company or installer.
• No pricing or quality guarantee: we cannot guarantee the final cost of your project, the performance of materials, or the quality of the builder’s workmanship.
• “Not stated” classification: if an item is flagged as “Not stated”, this means the written quote lacks a clear specification. It does not mean the item is excluded, but it marks an area where you need to ask for clarification.
• Reliance on submitted text: we evaluate only what is visible on the documents you provide. We do not inspect properties or verify whether statements in a contractor’s quote are accurate, true or compliant with local building standards.

4. Pilot service and availability

• The service is run as an early-stage pilot with limited capacity (up to 30 places). Applying does not guarantee acceptance.
• We will tell you by email whether your application has been accepted.
• We will deliver your review as soon as we reasonably can after receiving all necessary quote documents. We do not promise a fixed delivery time.
• We reserve the right to pause, adjust or end the pilot at any time.

5. Price and payment

• The price for a quote review is a one-off fee of £23.00 per quote comparison.
• Nothing is charged when you submit the application form. If your application is accepted, we will tell you by email how to pay. Payment is taken online through PayPal before review work begins. Our website does not collect or store your card or PayPal details.
• Before you pay, you will be asked to give express consent for us to start work straight away, and to acknowledge that your right to cancel ends once the completed review is delivered. See our Cancellation and refund policy.
• There are no automatic charges, hidden fees or recurring subscriptions. If our price changes in future, the price shown before you pay is the price that applies.

6. Your responsibilities

• You must be at least 18 years old and either the legal owner or occupier of the property, or have explicit permission from the person responsible for the project.
• You confirm that you have the right to share the submitted documents with us for review purposes.
• You agree to black out or remove sensitive private financial details (such as bank account numbers, credit card details or national identity numbers) before submitting your documents.
• You agree to tell us promptly if your contact details change during an active review.

7. Your documents and our reviews

• Your quotes remain yours: you keep ownership of all original documents you submit. You give us permission to analyse your documents only to prepare your review report and to maintain internal operational records as described in our Privacy policy.
• Use of the review: your completed review report is for your personal information only. You may share it directly with your prospective contractors, architects or advisors. You agree not to publish, resell or distribute the report as certified professional advice.

8. Our liability

• We provide this pilot review service with reasonable care and skill.
• No reliance: our review is an informational second set of eyes. You agree that you do not and will not rely on it as a substitute for hiring certified surveyors, qualified building trades or legal counsel.
• Exclusion of losses: we accept no liability for:
  • decisions or contracts you make with any contractor, tradesperson or third party;
  • losses, extra charges, budget overruns, property damage or delays caused by contractor work;
  • indirect, special or consequential loss.
• Liability cap: to the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service is capped at the total amount you paid us for the review (£23.00).
• Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Complaints and dispute resolution

If you have questions, feedback or concerns about your review, email hello@knowbeforesigning.com. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can and will make every reasonable effort to resolve any issue informally and in good faith.

10. Amendments

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published when you submit your application will govern your review.
